National Water Award
The award was launched by Jal Shakiti Ministry. Government of India.
Water has become a major problem
at many Indian states due its mismanagement and poor use channelization. More
than 50 percent of India in under high to extremely high-water stress.
India’s current water requirement
is around estimated to be more than 1000 billion cubic meters per year which is
going to rise up-to 1500 billion cubic meter by 2050.
India has more than 18 percent of
world’s population and has only 4 percent of world renewable water resources.
India needs to start using water
judiciously and proper conservation methods needs to planned and implemented by
every state of India.
Inoder to have a popular
participation from all states and citizens of India, central government has
bought National Water Award.
National water Award started in
2007 is designed to recognize and encourage exemplary work and efforts made by
States, Districts, Voluntary & Non-Voluntary organisations, Individuals
across the nation in achieving the mission named as “Jal Samridh Bharat”. Such initiative
will defiantly boost the water management system in India
The Jal Jeevan Mission which is a
prime program of Government of India aims to supply “Har Ghar Jal” to all rural
household by 2024 will also be indirectly promoted and benefited from such
initiative of National Water Award.
3rd National Water
Award 2020 was recently given to follow, thus making Uttar Pradesh best
performing state.
This award not only recognizes
the State Government or local administration but also various other bodies as
mentioned below.
