Cord blood banking - India

 Cord blood banking - India

Cord blood is the blood that stays in the umbilical cord and placenta after birth for a short while.

This can be used for treatment of cancer and many blood problems like anaemia and immune system disorders that interfere with your body's capacity to fight itself.

Cord blood banking is the practice of collecting cord blood, removing and cryogenically freezing stem cells for future medical use.

The concern here is that it is merely by emotional marketing that companies convince parents to bank the cells for several years promising future therapeutic use.

Indirectly the market for cord blood banking has grown from 1,126 million USD in 2016 to 2,772 million USD by end of 2023. It's time for govt to have proper regulations and make people aware about its proper use. Awareness would certainly be key factor.
