Russia - USA proxy war 2021 : Nicaragua

Recently, Nicaragua President Daniel Ortega won presidential election with more than 75% votes but the outcome came with doubt that his government jailed 7 of the leading potential opposition candidates leaving only government aligned "satellite parties" facing them in election. After all these, people of Nicaragua felt disgusted and 81% of population abstained from the vote process. This was the way Daniel Ortega won the election and became President of Nicaragua.

Since then people are protesting and 2022 would mark the Fourth year of protest. To support the students and people protest many nations like Britain and Canada announced sanction against Nicaragua government. Similarly, EU remarked that " Nicaragua is now fully autocratic regime". In the process, India has given the views on particular matter.

USA announced separate financial sanction against Nicaraguan officials, describing the election as a "sham". Also it has banned all high delegates and officials including President.

In response and support, Russia welcomes the result of Nicaragua general election and accept the president and rule. Russia also trying best to bring china onboard in support of Nicaragua.

Since the beginning of cold war, Russia was very important partner of Nicaragua because of its strategic location in central American region which makes it close to USA. In 1980s USSR supported Marxist-communist Government regime at Nicaragua with all possible support of ideology, finances and arms. But after fall of USSR, funding was stopped and Nicaragua became pro USA. But in past 7-10 years, Russia has been trying to mark it's presence in Nicaragua and people of USA feels like the era of cold war has arrived.

Nicaragua is also favoring Russia by every means possible and recently it has banned the use of GPS developed by USA and started using GLONASS made by Russia. Both Russia and USA trying to make a regime at Nicaragua that would support their ideology and present election winning of Daniel Ortega has indirectly defeated USA.

Since USA is backing Ukraine and harming Russian interest, so Russia is also trying to have support from nation's present around USA as Cuba an old friend of Russia is somewhat neutral now. So Russia is trying to build health and diplomatic relations with Nicaragua.
