What is Aspergillus ?
Aspergillus is a fungi and is one among the mold species present in high pressure climate everywhere.
Discovered in 1729 by Italian biologist Pier Antonio Micheli. It is oxygen friendly fungi and grows in region of high concentration of sugar, salt, etc. It's commonly found in contaminants of starchy food like bread and potatoes and even grows on many plant & trees.
Unique to know that certain aspergillus survive on nutrient depleted environment and can be found on damp walls, bathrooms, window frames & pillows too.
Does it affects humans ?
Yes, is the answer. Some aspergillus causes disease in humans, animals and plants too. They produce alfatoxin that is both toxin and carcinogenic which affect foods and crops like maize, nuts, rice, soyabean,etc.
Aspergillus fumigatus is a species that is responsible for primary pulmonary infection like pneumonia, sinuses infections.
Possible symptoms
Fever, cough, chest pain, breathlessness, Nasal congestion, runny nose, respiratory problems, throat irritation, headache, skin lesions, etc.
Although it doesn't affect healthy human but have a impact on persons with weak immune system or who suffers other lungs conditions like asthma, fibrosis, sinus, AIDS, chemotherapy patients remain at high risk.
Precautions
1. Proper ventilation and avoid humid places
2. Cooked food and not storage food
3. Proper bedding & cleanliness
4. Moist places of home and garden should be cleaned with proper bleaching solutions.
5. Wear mask while outside to dusty areas
6. Wear full cloths and gloves while doing outside work.
