Puri Heritage Corridor Project
The idea of development of Puri city along with Lord Jagannath temple was conceived by Chief Minister of Odisha Sri Naveen Patnaik ji in the year 2016 towards developing Jagannath Dham into a World Historic Site.
Heritage city of Puri has been planned to be developed under 22 seperate projects under the umbrella of Puri Heritage Project in phase manner.
Land of lord Jagannath is thought to be built in the 12th Century by the then Ganga dynasty rules popularly name of Kind Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva Ji.
Mythological belief is established as Puri being one among the 4 tirtha spots in India for Hindu belief and is considered to be the path way for heaven. It's commonly said that even God of Death "yama" has been neutralised due to presence of Lord Jagannath.
Puri heritage corridor project is funded by State Government under the scheme named ABADHA ( Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage & Architecture). The scheme named as ABADHA also signifies the prasad which is cooked and given to devotees visiting to see a glimpse of Lord of Universe.
2021, 24th November the Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Patnaik ji laid the foundation stone of the Shree Mandir Parikrama after three days Mahayagya performed by King of Puri (titular king)
The project has multiple dimensions like setting up a green corridor, sufficient accommodation for devotees, sanitisation and parking, etc.
Total project estimated cost would be 3,200 crore of which phase 1 funding is 800 crore. Yet to follow different phase towards development.
