Janjatiya Gaurav Divas 15th November
PM Modi ji chaired union cabinet meeting has approved November 15th as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas as a part of year long celebration of 75th India's Independence to commemorate the tribal freedom fighters contribution towards independence.
The day will remind us and the coming generations on the sacrifices and efforts made by the tribals in preserving cultural heritage and promoting indian values of national pride and hospitality.
There were several tribal movements across different regions of India against the British colonial rule. Few of these communities includes tamars, santhals, khasia, bhils, mizos, kols, etc; many more tribes whom the nation respects and appreciates.
The day of November 15 is selected to mark the birth anniversary date of Birsa Munda, who is considered as God by tribal communities across India. He was a young freedom fighter and belong to Munda tribal as their leader whose spirit of activism in the late 19th century had shaken the British policies in the region of present day Bihar & Jharkhand. He died as a warrior at the age of 25 years at Ranchi Jail but his young thought can be seen in the books of history.
Birsa Munda is known to have mobilised the tribal community against the British and had also forced the colonial officials to introduce laws protecting the land rights of the tribals.
Every year to mark the contribution of tribal people in India's independence and present days national growth and cultural harmony, central and state government will organise several activities as a part of celebration.
