New Covid19 variant and cases in South Africa and Europe : Risk for India

New Variant of Covid19 and Risk Involved 

Covid19 that started the devastation in the year 2020 has now again taken a shape of rising demon in European nations along with many nations of S. Africa.


European nations are facing rising cases of covid19 virus and its mutated variants in past few weeks. Nations like Germany and Austria have declared lockdown whereas countries like Neitherland and Slovakia have issued guidelines to citizens to be vaccinated and follow proper guidelines of covid19. 


European nations have asked citizens to stay at home as far as possible in the festive season and even formulated guidelines on people not vaccinated to be denied at public places. The concern of authorities is rising due to rise in cases of covid19. 


Roughly 60 % cases of present global cases of covid19 are reported from Europe. Nations like Belgium and UK are in verge of rising cases. WHO has also asked nations for emergency meeting and to strictly follow guidelines and protocols or death cases may rise to 22 lakh (estimated) by February or May month.


Status on Vaccination


Vaccination drive is on for every European countries. More than 70% are vaccinated with 1st dose and near about 55-60% vaccinated with second dose. 


Although vaccination is done, still the chance of covid19 persist due to deadly and multiple mutation of virus. 


Reasons for rising cases


1. Winter - although cold or climate has little impact of spread of virus but the mark of winter brings the festive season, which means gathering of peoples for celebration in Europe and rest of world. Like halloween, Christmas, New year, etc.


2. Anti vaccine sentiments - some people in and around every nation holds the anti vaccine sentiment due to lack of awareness, understanding or in name of rights. This anti vaccine sentiments would certainly have impact on spread of virus due to public protest and mass gathering. 


3. Possible delta variant or B.1.1529 - virus which holds the natural trend to mutation has now mutated it's form to more complex and deadly and has been more deadly and resistant.


New variant of covid19 has been found in South Africa which has possibility of more deadly and resistant. 


Scientists have confirmed the new mutation named as B.1.1529 and affirmed it to be more deadly and vaccine will not work possibly on new mutation. 


Nations like India has asked to have a strict test and screening process on arrivals from South Africa, Botswana, Hong Kong and others. Where as UK has suspended flights from many African nations. 



The new variant detected in S. Africa is not yet properly diagnosed but the variant is known to be spreading.
