Norovirus in India

 Several cases of Norovirus infection are reported at Kerala's Wayanad.

 It can spread from one person to another through contaminated food, surfaces and water. 


This kind of infection typically seen in confined places such as cruises ships, dormitory, nursing homes, etc.

 

Norovirus is most common virus accountable for occurrence of gastrointestinal disease.  Nearly 50,000 children's die annually as a result of diarrhea caused by the virus. 

Frequent handwashing is to be done out to prevent coming in contact from this virus. As there are no vaccine developed for prevention against this disease. 

Indicators of Norovirus impact are diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, headache, body ache, abdominal pain. 


The symptoms vanishes after 2-3 days but it affects health immensely. People with old aged, malnourished and suffering from sickness should be extra cautious.
