Despite its effectiveness in treating pain, fentanyl can be extremely dangerous and even deadly if used improperly. Uses of Fentanyl Fentanyl is primarily used to manage severe pain, particularly in patients who are undergoing surgery or who are experiencing chronic pain due to cancer or other serious medical conditions. It can also be used as a part of anesthesia for surgical procedures. Fentanyl is available in several different forms, including transdermal patches, lozenges, and injectable solutions. Demerits of Fentanyl The main danger of fentanyl is its potential for abuse and overdose. Fentanyl is a highly potent drug, up to 100 times more potent than morphine. It can cause a rapid onset of sedation, respiratory depression, and even coma or dea...

SWADESH Project on Brain Research | INDIA

SWADESH Project

Human beings are one among the most intelligent creatures on earth. Brain is the part which makes human beings intelligent. It is centre of nervous system and responsible for every process of human.

Brain is considered to be highly complex organ of out body. It controls every aspect in scheduled manner. It's made up of 1000 million neurones communicating every moment to process data and deal with actions.

Such a highly depending organ needs to be working appropriately for sustaining life and doing every day things.

In India, out of all diseases Neuro impacted disorders holds 10% of problem.  In coming few decades, India would be entering the aging population category and majority of problems can be seen rising from neurological disorders. Although, this is non communicable category but a massive population may suffer from it.

Government of India has launched a project named SWADESH. It would be world's first Multimodal Brain Imaging Data and Analytics for research and study about brain and related disorders. It is developed by National Brain Research Centre, Haryana under Department of Bio Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology.

The project will focus on human brain related studies like neuroimaging data and analytics. The researchers involved in this project would access the data on brain disorders and find possible causes, impact and derivative solutions to resolve the neuro problems.

The project would be technological advance through Python and Java workflow structure methodology. A dedicated storage system would be used for data processing and backups of collected information and research scholars works to facilitate other researchers worldwide.

The data collected from Indian population on brain related problems would be banked under single database and used for further studies. Data bank has been classified under six modules :

1. Neurodegenerative (Alzheimer's & Parkinson's)

2. Neuropsychiatric (bipolar disorders)

3. Developmental (Autism)

4. Covid19 disorders

5. Other mental disorders

6. Healthy brain subjects for comparison

The initiative of Government of India and Research wing of Department has proved the forward looking vision of science with always has been a gift to humanity.

Such project would not only solve the concern of Indian population but also enhance the medical field all over the world.

Brain conditions & disorders

1. Headache

2. Stroke - blood flow and oxygen supply is interrupted

3. Aneurysm- artery in the brain swells

4. Hematoma - bleeding inside

5. Cerebral edema- swelling of brain

6. Encephalitis- inflammation due to virus

7. Parkinson's- brain degeneration slowly

8. Huntington's- nerve disorder

9. Epilepsy- seizure

10. Dementia

11. Alzheimer's

12. Abcess - infection due to bacteria
