Young water professional India
Rising water crisis in india is going to be a major problem for world's second largest population nation in coming decades.
India is 7th largest nation in the world with 2.45% of world's land area and 18% of world's population, it holds only 4% of freshwater resources leading to all time water crisis at many places.
Data from various sources shows that 70% of water available is contaminated. More than 75% of household don't have proper drinking water. 50% of India is dealing with high water stress with heavy impact at North & Northwestern region and Southern India.
Government of India has taken many steps and formed many schemes and initiatives to address the water problem. But the matter of concern is proper implementation of those initiatives. Inorder to have proper implementation of these schemes we require proper professionals.
Therefore, to create specific professionals on water, India has launched its first edition of Young Water Professionals Program under supervision of Ministry of Jal Shakti.
What is Young Water Professionals Program ?
It's a joint program of India - Australia water relationship to support the National Hydrology Project on Sustainable Water Management, started in the year 2019 and officially launched in November 2021.
Program aim- prepare future water leaders
Program Objective- to enhance and deliver necessary skills, knowledge and required network to young water professionals, that will help the professionals towards development and management of water resources in India and deal with issues and concerns of water sector.
Implementation by- Australia India Water Centre (consortium of Australia & India Universities)
The professionals would be training under practical and case studies basics with objective of accumulation of field & practical knowledge in the sector.
