IHU Variant of Covid19 is more infectious than OMICRON

New Variant in 2022


After Delta & OMICRON variant with high mutated strain of corona virus, the world is going to face a challenge from new variant named as IHU.


Scientists have discovered more mutated strain of Covid19 than OMICRON from FRANCE.

 

What is IHU ?

 

The new variant B.1.640.2 has been discovered by Academics at institute IHU Mediterranee Infection (OMICRON was B.1.1.529)

Researchers states that new variant B.1.640.2 contains 46 mutations (OMICRON Variant has 30 mutations) which is even more than OMICRON thus making new variant B.1.640.2 more resistance to vaccines and being more infectious.

 

12 number of cases have been reported from Marseilles (France) and linked to travel history from African nation (Cameroon).

 

 

Is it Variant of Concern by WHO ?

 

Although cases have been reported from France, new variant B.1.640.2 has not been spotted in other nations. So, It has not been yet marked as variant of concern by World Health Organisation.

OMICRON is still the dominant variant in major part of world and it spreading at much faster rate than predicted.

WHO has placed the new variant B.1.640.2 as variant under Investigation.

 

Importance of Genome Sequencing ?

According to MedRxiv paper, the genome was obtained by next-generation sequencing with Oxford Nanopore Technologies on GridION instruments.

Many epidemiologist states that French scientists have rung the bell on new variant and now further researches can be done.
